Driving method for recording head

Abstract

PURPOSE: To perform an ink jet recording excellent in frequency responsiveness, discharging stability and variability in ink discharging amount by increasing the volume of an ink chamber in a piezoelectric element, disposing the reversing amount of a meniscus at the desired place, and then abruptly reducing the volume of the chamber. CONSTITUTION: An electric signal to be applied to a cylindrical piezoelement 2 is so varied as to increase the volume of an ink chamber 7, the volume of the chamber 7 increased previously to stop the reversing amount of a meniscus at desired place is gradually decreased, and the volume of the chamber 7 is then abruptly decreased to pressurize ink as a pulse wave for discharging ink droplet 10 from an orifice 1. When the pulse waveform is formed in a pulse waveform produced by superposing negative pulse waveform on the front portion of the pulse waveform, frequency responsiveness is improved. Thus, since the volume of the chamber 7 is increased, the preceding pulse for disposing the reversing amount of the meniscus at the desired place is increased and a discharging pulse for reducing abruptly the volume of the chamber 7 is then applied to the piezoelement 2, the frequency responsiveness, the discharging stability and the gradation can be improved.
